Great Ideea

check this out^. Its fun to play with or simply use as inspiration, if nothing else. The engine pulls from flickr and you can designate up to 10 colors, or just one and crank it up. The results are pretty amazing!

Way to go Crazy on the layout guys.

Stussy Vancouver

The Stussy Vancouver location finally opened over the weekend after much anticipation. I always enjoy seeing what new layout/concept Stussy comes up with for its flagship stores, but this one especially caught my eye utilizing local and all natural resources. You can find the story by clicking the image above and also a small feature at H(y)r collective. This day in age- the location, layout and concept are just as important as the product itself. No room for error in the retail game, and Matt George (goodfoot, ransom, nomad) and his crew are really doing Canada a service with all of their stores. This spot was the Boneyards pop up shop over summer08, what a stark contrast! The site is a great walkthrough of ideas, planning, and construction. Doing buildouts and renovations on our two stores has really taught me to appreciate what others go through.

Congratulations on another amazing store!

Family Reunion

(Jo and I trying to make a NE)

My how time flies. Somehow I haven’t seen Jo in 11+ years. Danny and Johannes Lorenz used to come visit from Germany every other summer when we were all growing up, the main reason being to visit family in the area. We met through skateboarding and always were connected at the hip the entire time they were in the states. So many good memories and times were had! Im not the most nostalgic by any means but it was so good to see my hometown through his eyes and listen to the way he remembered it. Danny stayed with us for a year in 99 or so, so it will be almost 10 years since we’ve seen that cat too.

(Jo, ollie)

Jo was always the gnarliest out of the bunch, a true wild man through and through. Back then all he cared about was wu tang, hunting down some marlboro’s, and jumping down the biggest set of stairs he could find(probably nollie flipping it too). If i can figure out a way to get the old footage from him at age 12/13 it still puts most kids to shame. To this date there was a couple tricks we have on robo cam that seriously cant be touched. He has really grown into quite an intelligent and responsible adult, is a seasoned world traveler, and has such a positive outlook, it was refreshing just being able to talk about life with him. Jo is currently handling the team manager duties at emerica for all of europe, but is still killing it, winning contests and rides for both emerica and element.

Its been way too long guys, and we need to find a way to visit more often! Much love from all of the Van Boening’s to the Lorenz and Smith families.

THE ROOTS

I dont get too excited about hip hop very often…i think the last hip hop album i bought was ghostface’s iron man on TAPE. not completely serious, but almost!!! anyway this video got me pretty hyped! maybe its just because i’m avoiding doing work, or the 5 shot americano i just had, but the live aspect of the roots makes them the best hands down.

Stussy x Rip Zinger

Pretty psyched on this! Sometimes it takes an outsiders/foreigners perspective to appreciate what is so good about usa skate culture and its bi products. As a shop owner its easy to get caught up in the negativity of the industry, and esp in the globalization/selling out of the “sport”. click HERE for the video.

Friday

made me laugh.

Nike 6.0 WackMobile

You know if i was going to make a car based on the ideas behind nike 6.0 this is exactly what it would look like. I feel sorry for the kids that do not understand the difference in this and sb, and shame for nike at the same time. Also I bet it gets like 12 miles to the tank.
